Leadership Expectations
The following expectations are set for the YUVA leadership team from 2024 forward.

The YUVA board will consist of an Executive Board and a Youth Empowerment Leader Board. Eligibility criteria and volunteer experience will differ for each of these YUVA leadership positions.


How to become a YUVA Leader?
Following leadership positions are available for TATA YUVA kids for each calendar year from January to December. An email requesting for nominations is usually sent out towards the end of the current year and the selection process will commence after the nomination period. Executive Board and Youth Empower Leader Board roles and responsibilities will be outlined by YUVA Director at the formation of the leadership board.


Executive Board:

  1. President

  2. Executive President

  3. Secretary

  4. Treasurer

  5. Historian

Youth Empowerment Leader Board:

  1. Outreach Coordinator (x6)

  2. Website Coordinator

Eligibility
Criteria to contest for a role in Executive Board:

  • Must be a YUVA member for past 2 consecutive years.

  • Must have logged 100 hours with a minimum of 50 hours each year in the past two years.

  • Must be in the YUVA Leadership Board for a minimum of 1 year

  • For President role, 

    • All of the above

    • Must be in the YUVA Executive Board for a minimum of 1 year

    • Must have logged 200 hours with a minimum of 100 hours each year in the past two years.

  • Must have submitted a nomination before the deadline period.

Criteria to contest for a role in Youth Empowerment Leader Board:

  • Must be a YUVA member in the previous calendar year.

  • Must have logged a minimum of 50 hours in the previous calendar year.

  • Must have submitted a nomination before the deadline period.


Responsibilities
President:

  • Lead Board Meetings

  • Oversee website and social media updates​

  • Represent YUVA in TATA events

President and Executive-President:

  • Plan and Host YUVA events

  • ​Lead General Body Meetings

  • ​Manage the member volunteer log

​​Secretary:

  • Record meeting minutes

  • Create a newsletter, communicate and collaborate with the TATA secretary to publish

Treasurer:

  • Keep track of new or renewed members 

  • Follow up with the members on a weekly basis who did not pay the dues

  • Collaborate with the TATA Treasurer on Yuva membership payment status

  • Collaborate with TATA membership on verifying a member’s parent TATA membership status

Historian:

  • Post the pictures and videos on Facebook, Instagram, and social media platform(s)

  • Collaborate with the website coordinator to post the event pictures and videos on the Yuva website 

  • Lead members to Tag Yuva on social media

Website Coordinator:

  • Gather changes needed for the website

  • Discuss and Review with the Executive Board

  • Implement the requested changes

  • Collaborate with the TATA Board and publish Yuva updates to the TATA website

Outreach Coordinator:

  • Event lead

                    Make event pictures, videos, and send them tothe  Historian
                    Member Sign-in and Sign-out at the event
                    Communicate the member’s volunteer hours at the event to the Yuva Vice-President.
                    Communicate the event organizer’s feedback on members’ to Yuva President​

  • Reach external organizations for volunteer opportunities



Selection Process
The TATA YUVA Director will set up a venue, date, and time, and contact the kids meeting the eligibility criteria for the selection round. To participate in the selection process, kids must be physically present at the venue on the day of the selection round.

On the day of the selection round:

  1. TATA BOD for YUVA will choose a selection panel of  Current year TATA President, Current year TATA BOD for TLA, Previous year TATA President and Previous year TATA BOD for YUVA to make a panel of total 5 BODs (selection panel).  Any panel member's own kids in the race for Yuva Board positions are not eligible to be part of the interview for their own kid.  This panel of 5 BODs must agree to conduct and complete the selection of the Yuva board with no bias or prejudice.

  2. TATA BOD for YUVA will distribute the details about the kids meeting the eligibility criteria to selection panel and allow sufficient time to review before starting the selection process.

  3. As a first step, selection panel will verify the eligibility criteria of the kids. Selection panel will call each kid, one at a time and assess for no more than 10 minutes using the following criteria:

    1. Past volunteer experience 

      1. Number and variety of events

      2. TATA event participation

      3. Previous experience on YUVA board

      4. Total hours

    2. Future time commitment

    3. Maturity and Leadership skills

    4. Communication skills

  4. Selection panel will deliberate and chose the kids to best fit the leadership positions. Decisions made by the selection panel is final.

  5. TATA BOD for YUVA will make an announcement of the positions at the end, on the same day.
